Jammu, Oct 24: The Govt. College of Education, canal road, Jammu today commemorated the UN Day by organizing a guest lecture by a renowned educationist and a prolific writer, Prof. Ajit Singh, retired principal. The resource person dwelt in length on the importance of historical facts to a teacher. Talking about the role of the historical forces that led to the cultivation of India's great culture and heritage, Ajit Singh highlighted the salient features of India's past. He enlightened the audience that the challenge and response and cause and effect theories are the basis of methodology of history. The speaker also threw light on the role of United Nations in the maintenance of peace as well as social & economic equality the world over. Kaushal Smotra, principal Govt. college of Education, presided over the function. Sindhu Kapoor, convener, Literary Cell welcomed the august speaker and Anil Verma, convener IQAC presented the vote of thanks. The lecture was attended by a galaxy of faculty members and students of social studies. Meanwhile, Department of English in collaboration with the literary committee organized an interactive session on the development of communicative skills among students. Various student speakers dwelt at length about the importance of English as a link language. The event was organized in the Govt. College of Education, canal road, Jammu. The Head of the department Shashi Prabha along with the convener literary committee Sindhu Kapoor encouraged the students. The other staff members from different faculties were also present. |
