IG Rajesh inaugurates Eid-Diwali Milan T20 Cup J&K Police, Simula XI, RCC win opening ties

JAMMU, Oct 24: Jammu and Kashmir Police, Simula XI and RCC Srinagar won their respective matches on the opening day of the Eid-Diwali Milan Twenty20 Cricket Cup, organised jointly by Jammu and Kashmir Police Department, Simula Club and Atman Sports at MA Stadium, here.
Earlier the event was declared open by Inspector General of Police, Jammu, Rajesh Kumar. Speaking to the gathering, IGP lauded the efforts of the organizers saying that the events held on the occasion of the festivals give a feeling of extreme bliss and ecstasy in everybody's mind.
Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Jammu-Kathua Range, Shakeel Beigh, Hilal Rather and Sanjay Mahajan were guests of honour. All the dignitaries were welcomed by Superintendent of J&K Police, RK Bhat.
Earlier, in the first match of the day, JK Police XI defeated Jammu Zymkhana by three wickets. Batting first, Jammu Zymkhana made 118 runs for three wickets in a game reduced to 16 overs. Jaganjot (59) and Rohit Bhatt (35) were main scorers. Shamsher, Ashwani and Rompy shared the wickets.
In reply, JKP XI achieved the target in last over of the innings for the loss of five wickets. Skipper Rajesh Gill remained top scorer with 34 runs. Farooq made unbeaten 33 runs while Pankaj contributed 23 runs. Rishab took three wickets while Rahul and Trivuban shared a piece each from Jammu Zymkhana. Rajesh Gill was declared man of the match. The second match of the day won by Simula XI, who beat Christian Sports Club. Batting first, Simula set a target of 181 runs for seven wickets, which, in reply, Christain Sports Council chase and bowled out for 111 runs.
In another match, played troday, RCC Srinagar beat Atman Club by eight wickets. Earlier, batting first, Atman Club scored 112 runs. In reply, RCC chased the target in 14 overs losing two wickets.
