| Tower installation scam in Kathua surfacing | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Nov 6: Without permission of Municipal Council Kathua a tower for cell-phone communication was installed by M/S Bharti Cellular Ltd in ward.no.14 Barmora is which was strongly challenged and objected by the residents under the leadership of Paramjeet Singh Gurain a RTI activist who said it has not only worst affected the health of the innocent residents but also created the doubtful and corrupt role of the Municipal council and district administration Kathua.
Residents Paramjeet Singh Gurain, Kamlesh Rani, Beena Devi and Dildar Singh said as per KMC record which is received through RTI reveals that the KMC has not given the NOCs/permission for installing the tower in residential area, and then in what capacity the KMC has been charging Rs.20000 to Rs. 50000 since 2006 till date having with receipt no. 4113600.
They alleged the KMC which is as per RTI says that no permission has been granted for tower installation and other hand shows that permission has been granted with details of charging amount with receipts, this totally confused and intentionally wrong prepared information just with a motive to befool the innocent sufferers.
The residents said the RTI record of KMC reveals that the site plan was also not approved of the M/S Bharti Cellular Ltd, before installing tower in this ward no.14 on the land of Om Shakti and Yash Paul of the ward (Barmora) Kathua.
But inspite of this the tower is installed as a base station of mobile communications and affected the health of huge population due to its strong and dangerous radiations.
The residents believe that radiations emitted from the tower have affected their health by causing multiple fatal diseases. The residents alleged the involvement of police, PDD, pollution department, Municipal Council and administration to strengthen the companies for illegal regulation and installation of the these towers at the stake public health.
To mount pressure in order to set a wakeup call for sleeping administration against illegal installation of Mobile Communication tower in highly populated area many protest demonstrations were carried out by the locals but no action has been taken so far and the people have to face the fatal health consequences.
RTI activist Paramjeet Singh Gurain said that there are two towers, one from Bharti Cellular Pvt. Ltd and other from Bharti Infra Infratal Ltd both are illegally installed in highly populated area of ward. No 14 (Barmora).
But in RTI answer KMC has only showed the name of one tower of Bharti Cellular Pvt. Ltd.
He said one hand if the KMC has not approved site plan for tower installation then why it has been charging amount from the tower companies and as per RTI KMC's other stand is that it has given the permission for the tower installation then why not it has approved the tower site plan and where is map of the tower is being passed.
The residents demanded a high level enquiry of the issue and believed that there is possibility of biggest scam in Kathua Municipal council which could unearth if fair enquiry is conducted. |
