| Panches, ex-Panches lock horns over SC category | | SP involvement suspected, complaint lodged with CB | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 6: The disputes between Panches and ex Panches erupted at tehsil Kalakote in district Rajouri over fraud on SC category. The disputes between them exposed many including a lecturer and a SP rank person, now posted in district Kathua. Sources said that the complaint in this connection was lodged with SSP Rajouri and Crime Branch Jammu for probe and legal action by one Puran Singh son of Ram Singh and Baldev Singh son of Ram Singh, both residents of panchayat Panhar, Kalaote. As per reports, both contested election for panches under SC category from ward No 6 and 5 and won accordingly. The twist came when their election was challenged in SDM Nowshera Court on the plea that both do not belong to SC category and accordingly a FIR was lodged against them for fraud. Later one Nimo Devi was elected panch of the area under SC category. The ex panches in their complaint alleged that Nimo does not belong to SC category and her brother namely Mohinder Singh who managed job of lecturer under SC category also does not belong to the reserved category. Sources said that during probe, the police agencies came to know that one SP rank person is behind the veil. Sources informed that during his tenure as ASP Surankote he lifted one Mahesh Singh, the brother of ex Panch Puran Singh on some false issue and later demanded 2 kanal land from him. Mahesh lodged complaint to then DIG Rajouri Shiv Dev Singh who wrote to Home Department for probe and accordingly the ASP was booked by Vigilance. The SP in order to take revenge, approached the senior officials of police, his colleagues, not to take interest in the complaint lodged by Puran Singh, ex Sarpanch. Meanwhile, sources said that further probe in this connection is in progress. |
