One more pre-poll survey, one more bad news for Congress
Future of Congress in Chhattisgarh

JAMMU, Nov 6: One more pre-poll survey and one more bad news for the Congress party. The latest survey was conducted in Chhattisgarh by Neilsen for ABP News and Dainik Bhaskar between October 18 and 31 covering all the 11 Parliamentary constituencies and 45 out of 90 Assembly constituencies. The survey teams sought the views of as many as 8151 eligible voters representing all segments of society. The findings, which were on expected lines, were telecasted on Tuesday between 8 and 9 p.m.
The Neilsen's findings were very interesting. The survey said that the BJP will score a great victory in the state for the third consecutive time and the Congress would suffer the worst ever defeat in case the Assembly elections are held now. People of Chhattisgarh will go to the polls later this month to elect a new government. The survey said that while the incumbent Chief Minister Raman Singh is the choice of 65 per cent of the people, Ajit Jogi of the Congress is choice of just 10 per cent of the people. In other words, the survey said that Ajit Jogi is nowhere in the picture and that it is Raman Singh of the BJP who is far ahead of Jogi.
The survey not only said that there is not a single Congress leader in Chhattisgarh who could match Raman Singh, but also said that the BJP this time will increase its strength by 10 seats in the assembly and the Congress's strength would be reduced by 11 seats. In 2008, the BJP had won 50 seats in the 90-member House and the Congress 38. If elections are held now, the BJP will win 60 seats and the Congress just 27. It is obvious that corruption, spiraling prices, inflation, scams, internal security and so on are the burning issues that will decided the fate of the Chhattisgarh assembly 2013. Significantly, the position of the Congress is no different. It has lost the people's confidence and for the same reasons. But the Congress will not like to hear this.
