| Rahul faces anger of Panchayat members due to fault of Omar Government | | | Asif Iqbal Naik JAMMU, Nov 6: Local Congress leaders who have been projecting "All is Well" in coalition were exposed when enraged Panchayat members virtually stopped Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi from speaking during the much touted Panchayat conference which was held today at M A Stadium. Rahul Gandhi has also faced anger which has been brewing among the elected Panchayat members who have been deprived of their constitutional rights due to dictatorial mindset of the coalition government headed by Omar Abdullah. As soon as Rahul Gandhi was about to wind up his speech, firebrand Sarpanch of Bhugtrayan Panchayat of Ramnagar assembly segment Prikshit Singh could not control himself and stood on seat and interrupted Rahul Gandhi's speech. Shell shocked Rahul Gandhi tried to pacify him but his efforts provided futile. As the young Sarpanch was vociferously making his point in the function, entire audience turned towards him. In the meantime other Panchayat members also resorted to shouting slogans. There was confusion for quite some time. Rahul Gandhi and AICC general secretary Ambika Soni tried to pacify the agitating Panchayat members by over enthusiastic Congress leaders, who tried to project themselves as more loyal than king, spoiled the entire efforts. Pradesh Youth Congress president Shahnawaz Choudhary and his loyalists started countering Panchayat members and this led to further chaos in the function. Interestingly Panchayat members have nothing to do with Rahul Gandhi because they were shouting slogans against coalition government headed by Omar Abdullah. Prikshit Singh shouted that during the last three years Omar Abdullah government has befooled the Panchayat member and this government was against decentralization of power. "Sir, I am also a sarpanch. All sarpanches are with you. We all sarpanches from Congress are with you and are ready to dedicate our life. But we have a complaint. While we got everything from the central government, we got nothing from the state government," Singh said, backed by other irate panchayat members. "We have been deceived by the state government for past three years over empowerment-- nothing has been given to us-- we wanted Rahul to facilitate our empowerment," Singh added. |
