| Two days lecture on 'Understanding Gender' held | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Nov 6: Two days lecture session programme was conducted by Centre for Women Studies, Govt. Degree College Kathua in which Dr. Anita Nuna, Dept. of Women Studies NCERT Delhi was invited as the resource person. Principal of the college Dr. Nater Singh Raina acted as the chair person. Madam Anita delivered her first lecture on the topic 'Understanding Gender' in the college auditorium where the students of college enthusiastically listened the lecture and participated in the discussion. Earlier in the welcome address Dr. Anupma Arora, Director Centre for Women Studies (CWS) introduced the resource person and explained the various activities conducted by the centre from time to time. She also talked about the societal discrimination being faced by females in all spheres of life. Dr. Anita delivered her second lecture exclusively for the female students of Girls' Hostel, G.D.C Kathua in the hostel premises. She discussed about the changing role of female in our society. She also interacted with the boarders and shared their experiences and problems faced by them in the routine life. Principal concluded the lecture session by advising the girl students to come forward and participate in the various cultural, sports, NSS and NCC activities to improve their personality. Principal also appreciated the initiative of Dr Anupma Arora Director CWS for organizing such brain storming lectures which help in the mental upliftment of students there by changing the mind set of society towards the status of women. Finally vote of thanks was presented by Dr.Surya Partap Singh. Dr.Sangeeta, Dr. Anita Kiran. Dr.Avinash Gupta, Dr Tejinder Kour, Dr. P.K Rao, Prof. Sumnesh and other faculty members were also present on the occasion. |
