| Several Sikh organizations condemns Government for ignoring Sikhs | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 8: Shiromani Akaki Dal (Badal), Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar), Sikh Students Federation, Sikh Intellectuals Circle, Jammu Kashmir Sikh League and Sikh Welfare Front have expressed concern over alleged discriminatory attitude of state and central government towards genuine demands of state Sikh community. According to press release the organizations decided to formulate a joint agenda strategy for religious upliftment and other benefits and genuine demands of the Sikh Community. First of all Sikh Leaders paid Rich tributes to all those Sikhs killed in brutal Nov. 1984 riots in India, 18 Sikhs killed inside a Gurudwara in Talwara Reasi, 14 innocent Sikhs including children killed on 13th January 1989 anti-sikh riots in Jammu, 36 sikhs killed chhittisinghpura in March 2000 and many others killed in Poshkrieeri, Mehjooj Nagar in Kashmir. They regretted that unfortunately a single FIR has not been lodged till date. The state and central government have failed to unravel the mystery behind these killing's and even the Ansari Commission probe report has not seen the light of the day till date. They further said that similarly present coalition government has miserably failed to do justice with Sikh community in the matter of employment, settlement of refuges issues and minority status to Sikhs in Jammu and Kashmir and unfortunately certain mysterious, disgruntled and selfish elements within our community are trying to sabotage and scuttled all the genuine voices of intellect just for their personal and political ambitions. "By spreading misleading propaganda such elements have only one point programme to grab the Gurudrwara stages for their political and personal ambitions", they said. Sikh leaders have unanimously endorsed the stand taken by All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee Kashmir and other Sikh leaders of Baramulla Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama & Anantnag against the timing of DGPC election on 15th January 2014 and it is an harsh reality that during this peak of winter season majority of Sikhs from Kashmir go out of Kashmir on Pilgrimage and other engagements in view of the winter vacation of their children. "Also the electoral rolls have not been updated as per new districts and with photograph till date, so we feel that in view of the said facts the purposed the DGPC elections announced by state Govt. will be a futile exercise and against the democratic and fundamental rights of the Sikh community in Jammu and Kashmir", they maintained. |
