Srinagar, Nov 8: Jammu and Kashmir High Court today granted two weeks to a government committee headed by state Chief Secretary for reviewing suspension of former Medical Superintendent of SK Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura here. Responding to the contempt petition filed by the former Medical Superintendent, Dr Mohammad Amin Tabish, a single bench of the High Court, Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir granted the time underlining that no further time will be granted to committee to complete its mandate. On November 1, the court had granted five days time to comply with the directions to review the suspension order of Dr Tabish. However, the SKIMS authorities filed an application today, seeking time to comply with court directions with the plea that the Chief Secretary was feeling unwell and such meeting of the committee could not be held. "Time and again opportunities stand granted to the respondents to ensure strict compliance, court observed and granted two weeks time is granted with a condition that no further time shall be sought. The former MS was placed under suspension following allegation of "doctoring" his date of birth from actual 1956 to 1957. Meantime the former Medical Superintendent too had filed a petition in the High Court to challenge his suspension. However the court in this regard on March 27, directed the government to initiate departmental enquiry to be completed in six weeks and consider his case thereafter as per the recommendation. Subsequently, a departmental enquiry was conducted by former Commissioner Secretary Health Manoj Kumar Dwivedii. The officer recommended that his suspension be reviewed after he reportedly found that Dr Tabish has not tempered the DoB. However, the government instead of accepting the recommendations, constituted a review committee headed by the Chief Secretary. |
