| J&K govt goes missing; sports lovers come to rescue of teen talents | | | Javaid Naikoo
JAMMU, Nov 8: As Jammu and Kashmir cricket association (JKCA) turned murkier after scams surfaced, sports loving people are coming forward to finance enthusiastic players of different fields of sports to play at national and international level. Though not for the first time, the fruit companies namely Khan apple trading company,Shopian fruit growers association and a non government association of sports loving people namely Shopian sports association of district Shopian have once again decided to provide every sort of financial assistance to two teen aged martial art players namely Hamid Rashid Mirm aged 14 years, son of late Abdul Rashid of Shopian main town and Hazik Bilal son of Bilal Ahmad aged 12 years of the same area to participate in a national level martial art ski Championship tournament likely to held in Goa next week. As per the figures collected from the technical director of ski martial art of district shopian,Tahir Hussain, these and some other non-government organization of the area so far have financed dozens of players who played ski championship tournaments in Bangladesh, Nepal, Goa, Maharashtra, Mumbai, Delhi, Jammu, Haryana and in various districts of the state as well. The details reveal that the financial assistance provided to the players so far by these organization include two players namely Faizan Ayub and Mohsin Azam who participated Haryana Kurukshetra sub-junior tournament in 2012 and won two gold medals in the final game, financial assistance to Azam Khurshid and Suhail Ahmad Teli in 2012 to participate in an another tournament which was held in Goa, complete financial assistance to two players namely Ahsan -ul- haq Boda and Shakeel Ahmad Khan who participated in an international ski championship tournament held at Bangladesh in December 2012, besides they were supported in making passports within days to appear in the tournament, financial assistance to four boys namely Ahsan-ul-haq Boda,Azam Khurshid,Faizan Ayub, and Mohsin Moazam who participated in 58th ski championship held in New Delhi in 2012 and complete financial assistance is provided to dozens of other players who play their games in various districts of the state. "My dream to play in Bangladesh last year came true only after these people provided me complete financial and other assistance"said Ahsan,one player Talking to early times, Tahir Hussain said that these financers have always helped his players to participate in international and national games and such an enthusiastic move according to him is the only way out he could find to keep his passion alive and propagate the game among the youth and provide financial assistance to the young boys who he is teaching different skills of martial art over the years. He also said that he along with some other sports loving people of the area approached to these organizations for financial help after nobody among the office bearers of jammu and kashmir cricket association came forward to finance these players despite repeated requests to the concerned people time to time. |
