| Summoning of General unconstitutional : CFCL | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 8: Council For Civil Liberties Chairman Inder Mohinder Tar Singh strongly condemned the way the General V.K.Singh is being treated by the state government. The recent summoning of the General by the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly is unwarranted, unethical and unconstitutional. Instead the Speaker should have summoned the Central Government as the revelation was made by the same that the politicians, NGOs and even the ministers are being funded by the Central Government or for that matter by the military, the General just endorsed or seconded the Central Government. If Ghulam Hassan Mir one of the cabinet ministers or anyone else feels that his name was being dragged unnecessarily the same should come forward and file a defamation suit against the General, said Tar Singh. There is a big question mark that the General V.K.Singh is basically a native of Haryana and the statement was made in Delhi how our State Legislative Assembly summoned the General and if they can or have done so why don't they summon the Central Government too. We feel the Speaker has exceeded his powers. Tar Singh further added that may be we have decided to oppose the army on all the fronts but we should not forget that if we the people of Jammu & Kashmir are breathing in open air it is all because of the army and the other forces. We urge upon the Speaker and the Chief Minister in particular to withdraw the unwanted charges against the General and set an example to honor and regard the highly decorated General concluded Tar Singh. |
