| Shop gutted in fire at Satwari | | | Jammu, Nov 8: Due to negligence of a shopkeeper in Satwari area of Jammu city, fire broke out in his shop which gutted entire goods. The fire broke out in a shop at satwari chowk, which belonged to Gulshan Kumar, s/o Tunda Mal of Nai Basti around 4.30 pm and in the ensuing fire goods worth lakhs were gutted. Immediately after receiving the information, the police reached the spot and called fire tenders. Two fire tenders rushed to the spot and doused the fire but till then whole shop was gutted. The preliminary investigation revealed that there was some repair work going on inside the shop which led to short circuit. The fire engulfed whole area and people present inside the shop fled away. Property worth lakhs were lost but no loss of life was reported from the spot. Police said that it as due to negligence of the shopkeeper owner who was repairing the electricity switch without following the due procedure which led to the fire. This place is important for many angles as Army establishment is just few hundred meters away and airport is also not far away. The area falls under the police station Satwari but so far no case has been registered.
