| Encroachers make hay under nose of administration in Kathua | | |

Kathua ,Nov 8 : All the efforts of Irrigation Department, Municipal Council Lakhanpur, and district administration proved futile in removing the encroachments on the bank of Kashmir canal at Lakhanpur.
The Minister of PHE Irrigation seems to be unconcerned on the responsibility to question the encroachers.
His tall claims to take a strict action against the encroachers of the irrigation land are just eyewash as the encroachers have gone ahead without any fear of legal action against the punishable offence to encroach the irrigation land.
The employees of Municipal Committee Lakhanpur have also encroached the land illegally and misusing its powers which further encourages other encraochers to tread the same path to encroach the land.
It is the great mockery not only for the dignity of the administration but also the viability of the rule of law.
Illegal construction is still going on the Irrigation land on the bank of Kashmir canal Lakhanpur and the concerned department seems insensitive and passive towards resisting encroachment and construction works.
Few days back Irrigation department had come into force actively to take back its encroached land on the bank of Kashmir Canal from the illegal possession which has been done by few influential people backed by top politician and bureaucrats.
But the encroachers never bothered the action of Irrigation Department and Municipal committee making the mockery of norms and legal actions which are being often claimed by the department to be taken against the encroachers to vacate the land. It all went in vain and the encroachers have developed a deep and strong nexus with irrigation department and Municipal Committee Lakhanpur to sustain the encroachment forever.
The encroachers are being seen as more powerful and stronger than administration which challenges the administration and forces it not to take any action against them due to which role of Kathua administration and concerned department has been exposed as dominated by the encroachers which have ruined the dignity of the administration.
The construction is constantly in full swing and nobody seems to take action against this illegal constriction on the bank of Kashmir Canal at Lakhanpur. Even the Basantpur canal is also being encroached by the encroachers which have also raised so many questions over the delaying of administration to take action against the encroachers to free the land. Meanwhile the Executive Officer Municipal Committee Narinder Singh told the media that no construction work has been reported in his knowledge and if any construction within the jurisdiction of Committee Lakhanpur is going on which is totally illegal would be stopped and committee will never spare the encroachers. |
