| YMPBS criticizes move of VC to close Buddhist Department | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 9 : The Research Scholars and Students of Buddhist studies today criticized the move of University administration either for completely closing or merging Buddhist department with philosophy department under the banner of Youth Movement for Promotion of Buddhist Studies (YMPBS). Addressing the media person , YMPBS president Suresh Kumar said that it was shocking and unpleasant move by the JU administration who was all set to close the teachings of Buddhism which has played a significant role in disseminating Indian culture and value education not only in the Buddhist countries of Asia but even in the western world. “Various universities in our country too introduced the teaching of Buddhist studies various levels 10+2, Graduation, Post Graduate and Research. It is worth mentioning that the Delhi University was the first Indian University to open the department of Buddhist studies way back in the year 1957” said Suresh kumar He further said that it was unfortunate that instead of promoting the study of Buddhism the JU administration is trying |
