Batote, Nov 9: In a public meeting convened by the Executive Magistrate 1st class, Batote, Showkat Ali Wani the prominent residents of Batote brought several local issues in his notice and hoped for their early redressal here today. The major issues raised by the residents included the poor quality constructions of the lanes, drains etc., frequent snapping of the BSNL lines in the town, frequent traffic snarls in the main market and bus stand, straying dog menace, non-demolition of those government (Forest department) and private buildings whose compensation have been already paid to them which is reason for the risk to the vehicle drivers as well as the pedestrians on the junction of NH44 Batote by-pass and the main road to Batote bazaar, encroachment of footpaths by some shopkeepers, sale of prohibited or banned edible materials by the shopkeepers in the market , the Government Higher Secondary School and the SKME hospital lying headless for last many months.
