KP organizations consent to homeland within Valley
11/11/2013 10:54:52 PM
ET REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 11: A separate city near Srinagar is being perceived as the only option for rehabilitation of the migrant pandits as most of the organizations are averse to returning to their native places in the Valley.
All major organizations including Panun Kashmir, All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) have consented to carving out a homeland within Valley as a permanent alternative to the problem of over seven lakh Kashmiri Pandits leading an exiled life in different parts of country for over 24 years now. The ASKPC another old KP organisation has also endorsed this demand saying that nothing except the separate homeland with full fledged Indian Constitution is acceptable to the community.
The PK president Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo while keeping the problems of displaced pandits before the visiting members of Parliamentary Sub Committee on Home during its three day visit to State has rejected the sham return of KPs to Valley. He has categorically made it clear that theMargdarshan resolution of 1991 was the only viable alternative to Pandits problems.
The Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) another KP organization led by Kundan Kashmiri though is not openly advocating for homeland demand however is not averse to rehabilitation of Pandits in Valley by carving out Kashyap State within Valley.
KPC is however under constant pressure by community members to support homeland instead of making confusion on the name of Kashyap State.
The KPC leadership however has assured the community that it has no reservations on this demand as well.
Another KP organisation JK Nationalist Movement (JKNM) is for construction of two cities within Valley adjacent to Capital city of Srinagar under the name Nove Srinagar with a composite culture for rehabilitation of the displaced Pandits as well as members of majority community. The JKNM leadership has taken up this demand with recently visiting Parliamentary Sub Committee to the State and submitted a memorandum to it in this regard.
The JKNM leadership while strongly advocating for creation of twin cities in Kashmir said it was the only alternative to problems of Pandits in Valley. He said the situation was not conducive for the return of pandits to their homes and hearths in Valley.
The JKNM leadership has said that the UNHRC has also made a recommendation for rehabilitation of terrorism and ethnic cleansing people at a single place wherever such problem exists. It urged the Government to make a decision in this regard.
