| Hurriyat leaders meeting with Sartaj Aziz | | How can Dulat speak for all of us? | | Neha Jammu, Nov 11: One day it is former interlocutor Radha Kumar who pokes her dirty nose in the affairs of the State and speaks the language of those who want to get Jammu and Kashmir out of the constitutional organization of India. She would even oppose the introduction of those central laws which aim at empowering the grassroots level institutions saying the extension of such laws would erode the State's "special status". Another day, another interlocutor Dilip Padgaonkar would poke his nose in the affairs of the State and would want the separatists to engage with New Delhi so that the Kashmir issue is resolved. Neither Radha nor Dilip would think it desirable to refer to Jammu and Ladakh and the people of these two regions house. They would simply talk about the so-called aspirations and needs of a section of Kashmiri people. And they still have the audacity to claim that they believe in democracy. Yesterday, another so-called conflict-manager A S Dulat, former RAW chief, also spoke on Jammu and Kashmir and urged the Kashmiri separatists to talk to the Union Government to tell it as to what exactly it wants. Referring to the November 10 meeting between separatists and Sartaj Aziz, advisor to Pakistan Prime Minister, at Pakistan High Commission, New Delhi, he said the exercise "can only be balanced if the separatists open the channels of communications with New Delhi also". "We do not have any objection if separatists meet Aziz or for that matter Nawaz Sharif. I only want to ask these leaders why they are reluctant in meeting Indian leadership…When they are in Delhi, they should also meet people here. (Agar Pakistaniyoun se mil sakte hou, tou Delhia akar Delhi walun sae bhi milo)," he was quoted as saying. "The separatists should initiate the process for a meaningful dialogue with Delhi. I wonder why they want invitation for this dialogue process; it is as if they don't know anyone here. The separatists have earlier met Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister and others in the past and that they should restart that process. Contrary to this they meet Pakistanis in Delhi now and the notion goes here that they receive guidelines from Pakistan," he also said. Underline two statements of Dulat. One: "We do not have any objection if separatists meet Aziz or for that matter Nawaz Sharif". Two: "The separatists should initiate the process for a meaningful dialogue with Delhi". Who is he to say we do not have any objection if the separatists meet Aziz or for that matter Nawaz Sharif? Who has given him the mandate to say what he said? The people of Jammu and Ladakh have not given him the mandate to speak for them. Nor has the Indian nation as a whole has mandated him to speak for it. Similarly, what exactly he meant by "meaningful dialogue with Delhi? Doesn't he know that by meaningful dialogue the Kashmiri separatists and Pakistan mean separation of Jammu and Kashmir from India? Doesn't he know that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and the problem in Kashmir is simply sectarian? He knows everything and yet he shamelessly makes common cause with them. His statements do create serious doubts in the minds of the people about the role he played as RAW chief. He must have bartered Indian interests during the period he served the Government of India in various capacities, including in his capacity as RAW chief. And remember, he continues to be in the good books of the Congress-led UPA Government. |
