Avinash Azad Jammu, Nov 11: Amidst Omar's rhetoric of equitable development of all regions of the State from every public platform, a simple piece of statistic has brought the underlying discriminatory mindset of the Government to the fore. A department head by CM has provided more than double Financial Assistance to Kashmir region as compared to Jammu, under Seed Capital Fund Scheme of SKEWPY till September 26, 2013. Well placed sources in Government told Early Times that Jammu and Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) under Seed Capital Fund Scheme of SKEWPY had discriminated with Jammu region to the core. The mindset within EDI, can be judged from the figure that not a single candidate was covered under said scheme from Chamb constituency being represented by the Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand. "EDI, had covered 3,917 youths across the State, included 1996 from Kashmir division 830 from Jammu and 92 youths from Ladakh division", sources said, alleging that the EDI has been serving Chief Minister's Kashmir centric interests. They further said that Srinagar district having eight constituencies was leading in the numbers beneficiaries as compared to Jammu. "969 youths from Srinagar were selected under seed capital fund scheme, while only 277 from Jammu were given opportunity to start their own business establishment under the scheme", sources divulged. "With 11 constituencies, Jammu district deserved more opportunities for un-employed youths", the sources opined. "Government should fix quota for each region, under such schemes, militancy in State had already increased population of Jammu district rapidly increased due to internal displacement, but successive Governments had failed to do justice with region on developmental ground", the sources regretted.
