| Despite due instructions an RTI plea bites dust at CM's Office | | | Arun Singh Jammu, Nov 11: Contrary to tall claims of 'good governance' and 'speedy disposal' of grievances, the Chief Minister's Secretariat has failed to respond to the directions of Governor House which were issued six month ago related to a complaint filed by an RTI activist. Six months have passed since the Governor's Secretariat has passed strict instructions to Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take action on a representation filed by an Right to Information activist against the State Information Commission (SIC) but the CM Secretariat is yet to take notice of the matter. Disheartened from the cold response of State Information Commission (SIC) regarding the non disposal of number of complaints lying with the Commission, a complainant, preferring anonymity, had placed his representation with Governor Secretariat under Right to Information (RTI) Act (14) demanding removal of present State Information Commissioner Ghulam Rasool Sufi for his misconduct and overlooking the complaints filed before the Commission. He informed that he had placed a representation with Governor Secretariat in March 2013 regarding the complaint against SIC for hushing up the matter against a former PIO Jammu University to whom the penalty notice was issued for not providing desired information under RTI to the seeker. Castigating Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his tall claims of introducing Public Service Guarantee Act (PSGA) in every public rally, he alleged that his own office is not adhering to the instructions issued from Governor Office by not taking action against the complaint filed by an RTI activist for the last six months as the file is still gathering dust in the CM office. He further said that earlier taking the cognizance of the representation filed by complainant, Governor Secretariat had dispatched a letter to Principal Secretary to Chief Minister BB Vyas on March 19, 2013 for taking appropriate action. Interestingly on receiving the cold response from CM office, Governor Secretariat again sent another reminder to it on May 25, 2013. Complainant further revealed that SIC is sitting on his nearly 29 complaints pertaining to corruptions in various government departments but senior officials in connivance with SIC managing not to dispose of the complaints. |
