| Master Plan violations: DB asks SMC Commissioner to appear in person | | Seeks details of movable, immovable property of concerned officials | | S Sabaqat
Srinagar, Nov 11: Division Bench (DB) of Jammu and Kashmir High Court today directed Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation to appear in person on Tuesday along with the details of immovable and movable property of Corporation's officers and officials. While hearing the PIL filed by advocate Mujeeb Andrabi, the Division Bench comprising Justice M H Attar and Ali Justice Mohammad Magrey the court directed to list the case again tomorrow due to absence of Advocate General M I Qadri. However, the court asked SMC Commissioner to appear in person along with the immovable and movable property details of officers and officials of the corporation. Responding to the various complaints about alleged violations in Master Plan in Srinagar, the High Court had directed the State government to come up with a policy decision by October 24 on how to curb the menace of illegal constructions in the city. Later it granted more time till to disclose the decision. The court had also passed the directions after it had been informed that more than 3000 illegal constructions have been reported from across the city. On last date of hearing, the court had also directed government to identify and initiate action against those officers/officials of SMC and others departments who have allowed the violations. "Serious violations regarding civic laws cannot be one-sided affair. Connivance of officers/officials of SMC and other departments is writ large," the court had said, directing that in order to ensure that such kind of violations are not repeated in future, the state government and all other concerned authorities will be duty bound to identify all those officials/officers and initiate action against them."The state and its authorities shall inform the court on next date of hearing about the movable and immovable properties owned and possessed by such officials/officers," the court had added. A number of persons whose buildings have been sealed have filed application for de-sealing through senior advocates Zaffar A Shah, Mian Qayoom, Manzoor Ahmad Dar and M Iqbal Dar. |
