JAMMU, Nov 13: The important Administrative and Technical wings of the autonomous sports body in J&K, State Sports Council have been made headless, courtesy callous attitude of the authorities towards sports and sportspersons. The poor set-up at the higher level has started leaving its impact on the normal functioning of the Sports Council at the ground level. Although the authorities claimed to have made alternate arrangements either by giving the charge to a junior officer or fixing the responsibility of the technical head on a man from accounts background. The non-performance of those, who have been given additional charge of the stadias and important coaching centers, has started effecting the sports and sportspersons at the grass root level. In one such glaring example of poor functioning of the managerial staff came to fore when parents of the young trainees of Multipurpose Hall of Indoor Complex, MA Stadium lodged a complaint with the staff regarding power failure today. However, these parents could not find any responsible individual to speak to with regard to the difficulty their wards are facing in the hands of Sports Council. On a visit to the Indoor Complex, Sports & Allied News found that around 200 regular registered trainees of twin disciplines of badminton and gymnastics have been made victim of poor functioning of the sports body. "There is no light for the last five days, rather, since Friday last. However, attempt was made to restore the light but for just few minutes. The parents of those young trainees are getting angry with us for wasting their valuable time, but, on the contrary, we have no answer of their queries," pleading not to be named, a coach at the Indoor Complex said. On being contacted, Secretary State Sports Council, Dilip Thusoo expressed his ignorance about the power failure at the Indoor Complex. Rather he said, " I have no knowledge about such happening at the Indoor Complex. Let me speak to the concerned persons." When asked about the headless Administrative and Technical Wings, Secretary said, "The Council has no Administrative Officer for quite some time. Person, who manned the post, too was not a senior officer. The retiring officer was of the rank of Section Officer (SO), so another person with similar rank has been given the charge." With regard to Technical Wing, Secretary mentioned: "The Chief Sports Officer (CSO) is about to retire in January, so he has been retained at Srinagar. So, let him retire, we will be promoting somebody to the post." To run the show, the charge of CSO has been given to Accounts Officer, who otherwise posses little know-how about the ground realities and difficulties of the ground staff. |
