Sports Reporter JAMMU, Nov 13: The combined side of Post Graduate (PG) Departments of Arts stunned title holder, Government MAM College in the semifinals to take on Government Degree College (GDC) Kathua in the final of the ongoing inter-college men's hockey tournament, organised by the Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus ground, here tomorrow. In the semifinals, played today, PG Departments upset defending champion, MAM College beating latter by a solitary goal. The only goal of the match came through Charanjeet Singh in the 18th minute. In other semifinal, GDC Kathua trounced the last year's runners-up, GDC Poonch by two goals to one. Akshay Sharma and Vivek Sharma scored for the winners striking in the 28th and 48th minute of the match. From GDC Poonch, Tarvinderpal Singh netted the only goal in the 23rd minute. Today's semifinals were officiated by the technical penal including Joginder Singh, Jagjit Singh, D Singh, Jasbir Singh, Mahesh Sharma and PD Singh. Now, the final shall be played between PG Arts and GDC Kathua at 11 am tomorrow at the same venue. |
