| HC issues notice to CS Ors | | PIL on illegal saw mill | | Et Report
Jammu, Nov 13 : In a Public Interest Litigation filed by CB Salathia seeking direction to the official respondents to stop the illegal saw mill run by one Pawan Saw Mill in connivance with official respondents, Division Bench of state High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Hasnain Massodi after hearing Adv Amit Gupta for the petitioner issued notice to the Chief Secretary, Commissioner/Secretary Forest, Commissioner/Secretary PDD, SSP Samba and M/S Pawan Saw Mill.
Senior Additional Advocate General Gagan Basotra accepted notices on behalf of Chief Secretary, Commissioner/Secretary Forest, Commissioner/Secretary PDD and dasti notices be sent to SSP Samba and private person.
In the PIL it has been alleged that official respondents are helping the private respondent in running the saw mill which is against the wishes and spirit of the law because it has been categorically envisaged in the SRO 103 that no saw mill can be operated within the area of 8 KMs from the boundary of the demarcated forest.
In the PIL the petitioner leveled allegations against the official respondents that after Commissioner/Secretary Forest and Commissioner/Secretary PDD after taking bribe from the private respondent is letting the private respondent to run the saw mill. JNF |
