| Jammu students shine in state level NCSC competition | | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Kishtwar, Nov 21: With the selection of nine projects from Jammu region, the students of Jammu division once again proved upper hand in the 21st State Level National Children Science Congress, a programme organized by National Council of Science and Technology Communication, Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. According to sources, nine Science projects from Jammu region got selected for National event scheduled to be held at Vigyan Bhawan Bhopal from December 27-31, 2013. The projects which got selected for National Level in higher group include those presented by Mohammed Idrees of Wisdom Tutorials Kishtwar, Shreya Sharma of Heritage School Jammu, Issam Sheikh of Holy Mission High School Bhaderwah, Umer Wahid of K-Photon Science Club Kishtwar and Harshdeep Singh of Shiksha Niketan Hr. Sec. School Jeewan Nagar Jammu. The projects presented by Erwin Andromeda of Happy Model School Udhampur, Arushma Pankaj of Presentation Convent SSS Gandhi Nagar Jammu, Roopsi of BSF Sr. Sec School Akhnoor and Preetik Koul of SOS Herman Jammu made their way to Nationals in Junior Category. The Science Project entitled "Shoe Electricity" which was presented by Mohammed Idress of Wisdom Tutorials Kishtwar and guided by lecturer Arshad Hussain got the distinction to represent Jammu and Kashmir State in Indian Science Congress to be held in Feb 2014 at University of Jammu.While congratulating the students, the Guide Teachers and different participating schools in the event Zafferullah Khan Founder Secretary NCURDS lauded the efforts of Dr. Ashiq Hussain, master resource person and evaluator for guiding and orienting the students and teachers for NCSC throughout the year thereby leading NCSC- Jammu for this great achievement. The state level programme was held at Govt. College of Education Srinagar which was presided over by Dr. D. K. Panday, Director and Scientist, Department of Science and Technology (GOI) New Delhi. Near about 200 students from different parts of the state participated in the said programme. |
