Wildlife department stops work on clandestine projects
Construction of roads without NOCs

SRINAGAR, Nov 21: Wildlife department brought an abrupt end to the dream of Health Education Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din to construct roads within the premises of Wildlife sanctuary in his constituency after Early Times exposed the matter.
However, it is not known yet which agency is constructing the road as Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) officials refused their hand in the matter. According to the Chief Wildlife warden of Jammu and Kashmir, A.K Singh, within minutes after he saw the news item carried in Early Times this morning about the construction of two roads within the premises of Limber Wildlife sanctuary in Uri without the necessary no objection certificate (NOC) of Wildlife department to the concerned construction agency, orders were issued to send the chief Wildlife warden of North Kashmir to the spot and stop every kind of activity going on in the area.
A.K Singh said that as it is completely illegal to even touch the premises of Wildlife sanctuary Limber without the prior permission of concerned department in which some rare species are living and incase anybody violated the Wildlife acts like constructing road in such a place he/she will be definitely brought to the book of law soon after his subordinates will identify the concerned agency in the matter. The concerned Wildlife warden of North Kashmir, Rauf Zargar who visited the spot today along with his team while talking to Early Times said that he today early morning stopped the construction work on both roads, ordered the concerned Forestor and range officer to fence the area and guard the area round the clock, besides he himself is preparing documents with necessary details to launch a fresh first information report (FIR) about some people who according to him have violated the canons of some Wildlife acts. Replying to the question of an FIR launched and withdrawn earlier in the matter against one construction company, Rauf Zargar said that an error was committed in that FIR which could not have been presented before the concerned Judge because of that very error in FIR but now action will be taken which include launching a fresh FIR against the concerned construction agency only after responsible people are located and details necessary for an FIR are compiled in a proper way.
As the work on two roads one from Limber to Shahkot and another one from Shahkot to Bodrali within the premises of Limber Wildlife sanctuary was going on in the area since 7/11/2013 as per one Forest official and as per the Chief Wildlife warden of North Kashmir, PMGSY unit Uri is the concerned construction agency as his department has earlier seized their men and machinery. However, Chief Executive engineer of PMGSY Uri unit, Showkat Hussain while refusing their hand in the construction of both roads stopped by Wildlife officials today said that PMGSY unit Uri had started construction of one road two years before, however, after Wildlife officials intervened in the work, PMGSY Uri unit stopped the work that very day and never restarted their work on the said road again since then.
The particular construction company and people involved in violating the Wildlife canons is though still a mystery for Wildlife officials as suspected PMGSY officials refuse their hand, however, according to some locals of the area some blue eyed officials in nexus with some close associates of Taj Mohi-ud-Din were constructing the road secretly during nights and are now using all their political backing to save themselves from any kind of legal action from the department of Wildlife North Kashmir.
