| Soz, Azad factions hold two functions to felicitate elected team | | Groupism overshadows GDC Kishtwar NSUI elections | | Asif Iqbal Naik KISHTWAR, Nov 21: Groupism in Congress once again came to the fore in Kishtwar Congress; this time during the elections of National Students Union of India (NSUI) as Congress leaders belonging to rival factions held two different functions to felicitate the newly elected team of NSUI, student wing of Congress party. Earlier, the groups fought each other at numerous occasions during the elections to felicitate the victory of the candidate of their own choice. The elections of NSUI for Government Degree College Kishtwar, ITI, Polytechnic College students for the post of new president were held under the supervision of Subash Gupta, District returning Officer Kishtwar today. In this election Kajal Badyal of BA Part 1st was declared as winner from GDC Kishtwar who defeated her opponent Imtiyaz Ahmed on the bases of toss after a tie between the two. Newly elected team of GDC Kishtwar comprises of President Kajal Badyal, Vice President Imtiyaz Tapal, General Secretaries including Ahmar Sehzad, Varsha Wazir, Touseef Iqbal, Irfan Ahmed, Amir Mir, Tariq Mir, Butt Irfan, Fayaz Ahmed, Amir Raza Malik, Mubasshar Ahmed, Babar Ahmed, Bilal Ahmed, Fayaz Ahmed, Amir Iqbal, Noor Hussain and others, beside Mohammad Nawaz, Abid Hussain, Sumaya Banoo, Taranum, Saima Tabassum, Asiya Banoo, Humaira Kousar, Ashu Sen, Abid Hussain and Suhail Ahmed were chosen as members from GDC Kishtwar. Aga Shia declared as President from Polytechnic College Kishtwar and Ravi Kumar from ITI Kishtwar. All the newly elected NSUI leaders were entitled for vote in district level election. The first function was organized by Azad group wherein Secretary JKPCC Thakur Jughal Bhandari presided over the function which was also attended by Vice President of JKPYCC Varun Singla, District President INTUC Kishtwar Raj Kumar Badyal, Congress leaders including Mushtaq Hap, Mahinder Singh Parihar, Noor Hussain, Ravi Shan, former President MAM College Amjad Bhat, former District President NSUI Kishtwar Saqib Lone, Former Vice President NSUI Kishtwar Randeep Thakur, Youth Congress leader Suman Partap and others were also president and felicitated newly elected team of NSUI GDC Kishtwar. Senior Congress leader and MLA Inderwal Ghulam Mohammad Saroori along with former NSUI State General Secretary Waseem Sajjad Saroori and youth Congress leader Sharik Saroori also congratulated the President GDC and her team and advised them to work whole heartedly for the welfare of the college and in creating academic ambience in the college. Saroori also extended his wishes to other NSUI leaders elected for different posts of ITI and Polytechnic College Kishtwar. In another function organized by Soz group was presided over by District President Congress Kishtwar Pardeep Singh Parihar wherein the newly elected Presidents and general secretaries of NSUI for different colleges were given warm reception at Dak Bunglow. The NSUI leaders were garlanded by the senior Congress and Youth Congress leaders. Besides President District Congress Committee Pardeep Singh Parihar, other congress leaders also addressed the gathering which includes Sheikh Nasir Hussain former President DYC Kishtwar, Haji Ghulam Hassan Mir Block President Congress Kishtwar and Assembly President Youth Congress Nadeem Iqbal. While speaking on the occasion the newly elected presidents, general secretaries of Government Polytechnic College, Government Degree College, ITI College, presidents thanked the members and assured that they will take every step to make students of this mountainous area powerful and aware. They expressed hope that the youth of the District Kishtwar as well as the seniors will extend their cooperation. They said that they will work as soldiers of NSUI and will leave no stone unturned in highlighting the problems of the students. Later NSUI leaders expressed their thanks to senior Congress leaders for their warm reception. Congress leaders from both faction of Congress expressed hope that Kajal and her team will leave no stone unturned in projecting the genuine demands of the students and will work for strengthening of the party. Meanwhile, Principal of the College, Prof. Dr Shafqat Rafiqui congratulated the newly elected body of student representatives and assured them every kind of help for the smooth functioning of the college. |
