Jammu, Nov 22: The meeting of Department Related Standing Committee of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council was held here today under the Chairmanship of MLC, NareshKumar Gupta to review the functioning of Home department. Legislators, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Dr. Bashir Ahmed Shah (Veeri), Abdul Majid Bhat and Rani Gargi Blowria were also present in the meeting and gave their valuable suggestion regarding the improvement in working of the department. The Committee recommended that the KPS (DSPs) and others should be designated as Kashmir Police Service instead of JKP. Principal Secretary, Home assured that the proposal would be taken up with the concerned for consideration. The Committee also discussed the transfer policy of the police department besides seeking details from the police regarding progress on various untraced heinous offences. It also discussed cases with regard to NDPS and smuggling of bovine animals. The Committee stressed on the police authorities to ensureadherence to Protocol of MPs and Legislators. Committee also discussed issues pertaining to improvement in working, setting up modern police station, training programmes and other related issues. Principal Secretary, Home Suresh Kumar apprised the Committee about the physical and financial achievements and other issues pertaining to the home department. ADG, Hqts S P Vaid, ADG, Armed S M Sahai, ADG, Security, V K Singh, MD Police, Housing Corporation, Dilbagh Singh, DG, Fire and Emergency, Dr. G A Bhat, IGP, Jammu zone, Rajesh Kumar, IGP, Crime, J&K Javed Gillani, DIG, Prisons, Sultan Lone and other concerned officers of Police department besides, Deputy Secretary, Legislative Council, Ishfaq Ahmed Wani and other officers and official of Council Secretariat were present in the meeting. |
