| NRHM to be made permanent scheme: ASHA | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Doda, Nov 22: Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHA) workers of Doda held a meeting under the banner of ASHA Workers Association Doda. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of its president Khursha Begum who raised various demands which include NRHM to be made a permanent scheme, Govt employee status for ASHAs, enhancement and timely monthly salary, supply of special kits and issuance of identity cards. Addressing the meeting, president of the Association Khursha Begum said that ASHAs are a crucial component of the NRHM and are working for the betterment of health services for the benefit of the community at large. Khursha also said that ASHAs work tirelessly, selflessly despite all the difficulties they are confronted with. Other member of the Association Kiran Balla said that the Govt must acknowledge the contribution made by the ASHAs to the implementation of the NRHM and the improvement of the health status of poor especially of mothers and infants in their respective areas.They urged the state government particularly Health Ministry to take a serious note of the discontent among the ASHA workers and take a necessary action for the immediate fulfillment of their genuine and long pending demands at an earliest. |
