| Nationwide sensitization programme on mathematics held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Nov 22: A two day programme in connection with the nationwide sensitization programme on Mathematics for the teachers commenced today at State Institute of Education Jammu. The programme is being organized by National Council for Urban and Rural Development Society in collaboration with Vigyan Prasar Noida and NCSTC-Network New Delhi and is being catalyzed and supported by Department of Science and Technology New Delhi. Today's program was inaugurated by T.V. Vankatshwarn, head/director Vigyan Prasar and Anuj Sinha chairman NCSTC-Network, who were the guest of honor on the occasion whereas S. K. Raina, I/C principal SIE presided over the function.After welcoming the participants and guests Zaffer-ullah Khan, founder secretary NCURDS threw light on the purpose of the workshop which aims to improve the teaching skills in mathematics. Ashiq Hussain, asst. professor, in his welcome address stressed for the use of simple teaching aids and to make maximum use of mental mathematics calculation in order to achieve higher grade not only in school exams but in different competitive exams involving math. He gave certain tips/tricks to the participants for easy calculations.He added that the two day workshop will include mathematics in daily life, number theory, hands on mathematics and origami to understand geometrical figures. Anuj Sinha in his address said that NCSTC-Network an apex body of DST, New Delhi is active in imparting and empowering the teachers with new trends in teaching different subjects especially science and technology and mathematics and this workshop is one such initiative for the teachers of Jammu.He stressed the participants to attend such types of workshops regularly to equip with latest subject knowledge. T.V. Vankatashwaran in his address lauded the efforts of NCURDS for arranging and organizing the said workshop and added that NCURDS is acting a backbone for implementation and imparting latest educational skills to teachers in the area in close association with DST New Delhi. He added that more such programmes will be organized in the state in near future for the betterment of educational standard of the state. |
