| Clerical staff in Civil Secretariat, DDC offices under scanner | | Fake gun license issue | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 22: In the latest development in fake gun license scam, that came to fore after the arrest of a history sheeter by City Police, police have written to Home Department for records and District Development Commissioners in Jammu region to know how original gun license numbers were forged and how they reached the hand of criminals. Highly placed sources within police informed that, the decision to approach Home Department and DDCs was taken after a meeting of senior police officers. Meanwhile, City police have zeroed in one more criminal namely Raj Kumar alias Raju Baba of Krishana Nagar, who is stated to be instrumental in supplying fake arms licenses to other people majority of whom have criminal back ground. The further dig out came to effective after police, during scrutiny came to know that original gun license numbers have been used while preparing fake gun licenses. The accused used original gun license numbers of high profile persons including MLAs. Apart from some persons in Civil Secretariat, judicial clerks in DDC offices, who are responsible for maintaining record of the gun licenses, are under suspicion. Pertinently, the scam came to fore after the arrest of a history sheeter, from whose possession police seized one country made pistol and fake gun license.Criminal identified as Rajesh Kumar alias Minta Langda was arrested a couple of days ago from city area of the winter capital.During investigations it was found that he was carrying a fake gun license and also had renewed it from different officials. A case under sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 3/25 Arms Act has been registered against him and further investigation was in progress. |
