Nagri residents demand probe into construction of embankment

Kathua, Dec 23 : Major part of embankment constructed in river Ujh, few years back, has swept away, exposing a vast chunk of cultivable land and inhabitants of Pandori Nagri, to floods. The villagers of said area have demanded through investigation of alleged sub standard material used in the construction of embankment.
Farmers informed Early Times that thousands of hectares of their cultivable land could be eroded easily because most of the over flowing flood water entered into their fields, from broken embankment.
They alleged that substandard material was used in construction of embankment and demanded an investigation into the matter and action against the Irrigation Flood Control Department Kathua.
Sarpanch of Panchayat Pallan of Billawar, Akhtar Ali alleged misusing of funds by concerned department and Manohar Lal Sharma.
