| How long can NC run with dare and hunt with hound? | | | early times report Jammu, Dec 23: Finally Dr. Mustafa Kamaal of the NC has found the ultimate answer to the Kashmir dispute. In an interview Kamaal has said the UN resolutions on Kashmir are still relevant and plebiscite (Rai Shumari) is still an option to solve the dispute. It has always been typical of the NC and its leadership to rake up issues like plebiscite, autonomy, Kashmir dispute, Muzaffarabad road and other issues to stir up emotions for political benefits around election times. It is very strange that the same party (read NC) has ruled Jammu and Kashmir for decades and been beneficiaries of both the turmoil and the resulting agreements with New Delhi should be cribbing about a dispute that has benefitted them the most. Corruption, nepotism, favoritism, rigging in elections, muzzling the voices of the opponents has all been possible for the ruling party in J&K because of the over-riding hype the ruling party has been giving to the dispute and the problem of Kashmir. Even the State CM has said more than a dozen times that his party is fighting elections for day to day running of administrative affairs while the resolution of the Kashmir problem should be left for India and Pakistan to ponder upon and arrive at an amicable solution.
Both Mustafa Kamaal and Omar Abdullah need to understand that as legislators and as people who have ruled and are ruling the State, they are oath bound on the sanctity and finality of the accession of J&K with India and the irrevocability of its nature and status.
It does no good to either the image of the ruling party or the security and stability of the State when people like Omar and Mustafa Kamaal talk of uncertainty, insecurity and dispute. The sooner this is understood the better for the overall situation in the State. To speak of taking measures to tackle militants in one breath and to speak of Kashmir being a dispute in the same breath, this a specialty the NC has learnt to perfect into a political craft. One does not run with the dare and continue hunting with the hound. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> |
