| DG Prasar Bharti reluctant to take action | | Favouritism, money swindling in DDK | | Javaid Naikoo
Srinagar, Dec 23: Director General Prasar Bharti seems in no mood to take action against favouritism and alleged money swindling in DDK Srinagar. Early Times in a series of stories has exposed how money is swindled in DDK Srinagar in the name of current affairs programmes through fake accounts by favourites. But nothing has moved. Documents in possession of Early Times also exposed what an inquiry report of Prasar Bharti mentions about the irregularities in production of current affairs programmes in DDK Srinagar. Pertinently after the Director DDK Srinagar showed his helplessness and accused the system of contract assignment for dominance by blue eyed non professionals, Early Times managed to bring the matter to the notice of the Director General Prasar Bharti. Acknowledging the Early Times stories, he ( Director General Prasar Bharti, S.M Khan) said "quote should have been used in first story published; I have informed some officials in this regard already." However he did not say what action had been taken. Prasar Bharti in early 2012 appointed an inquiry officer namely A.A Rao, then Additional Director General of Prasar Bharti who in his report has mentioned that "Prima facie, there is merit in complaints of irregularities in production of current affairs programmes by DDK Srinagar." Early Times has exposed how many government employees working in different government sectors mostly as teachers are also working as anchors, correspondents, news readers and script writers presently in regional news unit of DDK Srinagar and how fake accounts have been created to grab money for the programmes namely "Sadhbawna,Sach To Ye Hai,Hum Bi Mhun Mai Zubaan Rakhte Hai, Sargamiyan and Hafta Rafta. Besides Early Times also exposed how some blue eyed tainted casual base employees enjoy luxurious government accommodations in Srinagar in the name of DDK Srinagar after filing fake documents in the department of Estates. |
