| Kitchloo 'move ' had Congress 'consent' too | | LS polls on mind, Congress gave nod to re-induction | | early times report Jammu, Dec 23: Clean chit in Kishtwar clashes swiftly followed by re-induction of Sajjad Kitchloo may have caused ruffles within his own party NC with some leaders nourishing apprehensions that the move is going to fetch much gains to the party. Whether these are real or unfounded is something NC high command must have given heed prior to taking this decision. However, contrary to the general impression that the move has damaged electoral prospects of Congress, there is beyond what looks on the political screne and calculations. This is learnt to have been done with consent of Congress which is tandem with its ruling ally in deciding the timing and tone of what emerged on Friday and Saturday. According to sources, what emerged with respect to Kitchloo in terms of he getting a clean chit and later losing no time getting berth in the council of ministers in Omar Abdullah led coalition, was not solely decided by the Chief Minister and NC alone. Sources said Congress consent and nod was given to the move which shook the political circles yet again, in parleys much ahead of when it became public. There is complete and perfect understanding between the two allies on this and Congress has not been caught by surprise nor is it unilateral decision of NC in getting Kitchloo back into ministry, sources said. Sources said Congress has given go ahead signal with Parliamentary elections on mind. Though the move has agitated BJP which is trying to cash in on the Hindu sentiment, given the nature of the clashes that hit Kishtwar in August this year, Congress too is playing its cards smartly in the aftermath. The tenor and timing of submission of the report by Justice Gandhi Commission is politically calculated, sources said. While the Congress is well aware of some loss in kitty with Hindu vote belt, it is now trying to consolidate Muslim vote in the entire belt by own as well as with the help of its ally National Conference which too has influence in some key areas. Sources further said that even as the two alliance partners have not yet declared the candidates officially for LS polls on the two Jammu seats nor have the two parties made their cards known publicly on pre poll alliance issue, they have decided things on both the fronts. While it is almost decided that both the parties shall have pre poll alliance and understanding for LS polls, in that NC will not field its candidates for Jammu seats and Congress is not contesting on Kashmir seats. As for the two Jammu seats, the NC would understandably give full support to Congress which means that any segment and vote consolidated this time by NC would go in favour of Congress in the long run, which is why Congress did not object to the move either in giving clean chit or in reinduction of Kithcloo as MoS, sources said. Sources also said that both PCC chief Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz and Union Health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad were taken into confidence on the move by the high command when things were discussed with respect to electoral prospects for the party for LS polls.
