| PDP leader cautions State Govt about deteriorating weather conditions | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 23 : People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Coordinator for Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary constituency, Abdul Hamid Choudhary has asked the state government to remain prepared to meet any eventuality, ensure full attendance of doctors and paramedical staff in hospitals and also keep people informed about weather conditions on regular intervals. "Death of two girls due to snow avalanche in Gurez, two persons in a road accident in Gulmarg and ten others in Kishtwar area besides stranded vehicles on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway are warning signs for the government to keep a close coordination with BRO, GREF and BEACON authorities besides keeping its men and machinery ready to avoid such fatal accidents and to meet any eventualities", he said. The PDP leader said that government must ensure that all vital road links in snow bound areas remains open during snowfall so that needy could reach hospitals and also have access to essential services. Choudhary Hamid said that preparedness on most crucial route, 300 Kilometers long Jammu-Srinagar National Highway must be repeatedly ensured for the reason that it creates maximum trouble to commuters. "Since government had not been able to improve road conditions in hilly areas, it must stay prepared to help people reach their homes safely. Special arrangements must be made at Jammu in case any passengers are stranded here due to snowfall and subsequent road blocks. Food, blankets, shelters and medicines must all be kept ready to meet such untoward situations during winters", Choudhary Hamid added. |
