2 among woman murdered with 24 hrs, ex army jawan among two held

Jammu, Jan 9 : Two persons including a female were murdered in different places of city outskirts within past 24 hours.
Police sources said that a youth was murdered while his associate received severe injuries after the duo had scuffle with two brothers who were resting consuming of liquor by the former in front of the house of latter in Tali Morh last night. The deceased has been identified as Harnek Singh son of Chanan Singh and injured has been identified as Avtar Singh son of Lakvbir Singh, both were residents of Talli Morh.
Police sources said that incident took place last night when Harnek Singh along with Avtar Singh were consuming liquor in front of a house in Tali Morh and the act was resisted by the family members resulting verbal arguments between them.
Later, a clash broke out between them following which Harcharan Singh, a retired Army jawan and Harvinder Singh attacked both Harnek and Avtar with sharp-edged weapons.
After getting the information police reached the spot and shifted the injured to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H) where Harnek was declared as brought dead while Avtar was responding to the treatment when last reports came in.
Police arrested both of the accused Harcharan Singh, a retired Army jawan and Harvinder Singh and a case in this connection has been registered at Miran sahib police station.
Meanwhile, a 55 year-old widow identified as Basanti Devi widow of Mangat Ram of Lower Rattno Chack was murdered
Police sources said that the deceased was staying at her son's house who was gone for work in night and when he returned next morning found his mother dead with her slit throat.
In this regard police have registered a case at police station Gangyal and started investigations to ascertain real facts behind the murder.
However, no arrest was made in this regard when last reports came in.
