NC impediment in implementing 73rd amendment, refugee settlement: Soz
1/9/2014 11:42:40 PM
Arun Singh

Jammu, Jan 9: Launching a veiled attack on National Conference, Senior Congress leader and Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief, Prof Saif-u-din Soz today attributed the coalition as a main reason for non implementation of 73rd amendment and settlement of refugees. "If we have not been able to resolve the issues related to settlement of refugees, 73rd amendment till date, which were promised by Congress party, the compulsions of a coalition government was the only reason behind its undue delay which has created many hurdles for its smooth passage," Prof Soz said at the sidelines of a function organized by Chambers of Commerce and Industries Jammu here today.
He said that Congress has always played a progressive role in raising human interest issues and have been taking up various issues related to genuine human problems time and again but we being in coalition in state government have to face tough time in resolving these issues due to which things have been stuck.
On a query about Cabinet Sub Committee, Soz said that there is no rift which has been reported caused due to lack of consensus within the members of Cabinet Sub Committee (CSC), constituted for creation of new administrative units.
"There are no differences within the CSC as it has been constituted for the welfare of the far flung areas of the state. We want equitable development in all three regions of the state as there are many areas including which are lacking in connection with developmental works," said Soz. While responding to the query on summon to Retd Army chief Gen V K Singh, Prof Soz expressed unhappiness over the attitude of Privilege Committee of Legislative Council for summoning former Army Chief to explain his position on his allegations that politicians in the state were paid by the Army.
"As a citizen of this country I personally feel that Privilege Committee should not insist Gen VK Singh for his personal appearance before the panel because person like him keeps a high status in the society rather Committee should ask him for his position in written," he said.
Talking on the member of Aam Admi Party (AAP), Prashant Bhusan's recent comment on referendum on the presence of Army in Kashmir, Soz said "Prashant Bhushan is not technically fit person to talk about the issue of Kashmir as he lacks many basic problems of the Kashmir so he should avoid giving such immature statements"
Earlier, President of Chamber of Commerce and Industries Jammu YV Sharma felicitated Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz for his efforts in helping redressing the issues.
