| A year on, CIC directs PIO to furnish information within 15 days | | PIO RC denies RTI information | | Avinash Azad Jammu, Jan 9: Showing total disregard to Right to Information Act (RTI), the Public Information Officer of Resident Commissioner New Delhi denied information sought by an RTI applicant, for more than last one year and finally former has been directing Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) to furnish information within 15 days. Responding to second appeal filed by information seeker, Balvinder Singh, the CIC J&K, G R Sufi directed PIO, Asif Hamid Khan to furnish information within 15 days. According to documents in the possession of Early Times the information seeker sought information of eight questions from the PIO. "Provide the detail of laid down procedure for allotting rooms in all the three blocks, A, B and C of JK guest house Chankyapuri New Delhi and Prithiviraj Marg, New Delhi. Provide the photo copy of each page of the Guest entry register of all the three blocks kept in the said guest houses during the period from September 31, 2012 to November 30, 2012", the application reads. The RTI application further reads that provide the detail of payments received from each guest, separately, if it is not recorded in the guest entry registry of both guest houses. "Provide the total amount spent on the maintenance/ repair of the both guest houses during period from March 31, 2007 to March 31, 2012", the documents read, adding that provide the name of Junior Engineer, AE and AEE of both guest houses along with their date of joining and period of their stay at the previous place of posting. Hearing, held on January 1, 2014 before CIC GR Sufi, the CIC found that neither the Principal Resident Commissioner-cum- FAA K B Agarwal nor the PIO has bothered to give an ear to the application of the appellant. The PIO was directed to explain why penalty proceeding may not be initiated against him for not passing an order with the stipulated period. |
