Protest after alleged rape bid on minor, accused absconds

Jammu, Jan 13: Agitated over a rape bid on a minor girl here on Monday in Nai Basti of Gandhinagar, the locals staged a strong protest demanding early arrest of the accused who evaded his arrest soon after making a bid to rape a minor of the locality. A case stands registered in this regard while manhunt is on to nab the accused.
As per reports, the alleged accused identified namely as Abbu son of Rattan Singh Langeh of Nai Basti made bid of rape on a 3 years old girl, living in his neighourhood.
"The alleged accused lured the minor at his residence, reports said, further adding, "on the pretext of giving her some gift."
Reports said, "The accused already having planned some mischief took the girl to a secluded spot and tried to commit rape upon her."
Meanwhile the mother of the accused however sensing something fishy in the suspected behavior of her son and thus chased him and tried to nab him before he could commit crime, reports added. However, the accused dodged her and managed to flee from the spot.
Soon the news spread within the locality following which the parents of the girl alongwith others relatives and some locals held protest demonstration against the alleged accused and demanded stern action against him.
A team from Police Station Gandhi Nagar rushed to the spot and pacified the protestors assuring action in this regard.
Meanwhile a case stands registered under section 363,373 RPC against the accused and manhunt has been launched to nab him while the girl was taken to the hospital for medical examination and the reports of which are awaited till last report came in.
