| 'Heated arguments exchanged during CSC meeting' | | Creation of Administrative Units | | Early Times Report srinagar, Jan 13: National Conference Provincial President for Kashmir Division Nasir Aslam Wani and People’s Democratic Party leader Mohammad Ashraf Mir exchanged heated arguments during Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting at Banquet Hall in Srinagar today. The Cabinet Sub-Committee constituted for examining the creation of new Administrative Units in the state met in Banquet Hall Srinagar. Besides District and block presidents from various political parties, the meeting was attended by CSC Chairman, Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Higher Education Minister Mohammad Akbar Lone, Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hassan Mir, Provincial President National Conference Nasir Aslam Wani, Planning Minister Ajay Sadhotra, Law Minister Mir Saifullah and Minister for Urban Development Nawang Rigzin Jora and Peoples Democratic Party MLC, Mohammad Ashraf Mir. "Go to hell, you have no mandate to participate in the meeting," Nasir Aslam Wani shot at me after I told Wani to be Srinagar specific and not to take up the issues pertaining to North, Central and South Kashmir," Mohammad Ashraf Mir said. According to a local news agency, as the meeting started, PDP, MLC demanded that one more district should be created in Srinagar as it comprises of 8 Constituencies. "If Ganderbal was declared a district comprising of only two constituencies then why can't one more administrative unit be created in Srinagar which has 8 Constituencies," Mir said. During the meeting when Nasir Aslam Wani raised the issues about North and South Kashmir, Mir advised him to be Srinagar specific and said that CSC meeting has been called for Srinagar and not for other districts. Wani shot back by telling Mir not to teach him. "You have no mandate to attend the meeting and you can leave if you have no agenda," Wani said while Mir referred to Chairman CSC Tara Chand alleging that only workers from a particular political party have been allowed to attend the meeting while general public was not informed. Mir left the hall alleging that Nasir Aslam Wani tried to hijack the meeting. "It was a meeting pertaining to Srinagar but Nasir Aslam Wani wasted his time in elegizing Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and further more he was not Srinagar specific. The Government had not informed general public about the meeting and even no invitation to our party was forwarded in writing. NC in a planned manner had invited only his district and block presidents in the meeting," Mir told CNS soon after leaving meeting hall midway. When contacted, National Conference provincial president for Kashmir Division, Nasir Aslam Wani said that Mir is still a fledge in politics and did not know what he was talking. "I am a gentle person and everyone knows me. I spoke in the meeting only after seeking permission from the Chairman and how Mohammad Ashraf Mir could have stopped me. Was I bound to take permission from Mir," Wani said adding that PDP has no agenda and the leaders of this party have made it a custom to create ruckus in every meeting. Wani denied he forced Mir to leave the meeting hall. Meanwhile, political workers during the meeting lashed out at different political leaders for failing to create new administrative units in various districts. |
