Jammu, Jan 13: Former Minister and President Dogra Sadar Sabha, Gulchain Singh Charak who led a string delegation of prominent people from Jammu called on a battery of union ministers and apprised them about the demanded an exclusive Duggar Channel from Government of India to counter the false propaganda started by the Pakistan television in Jammu region. While speaking to media persons here today, Charak said, "A delegation of 40 members met the Union Defence Minister, A K Antony, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Manish Tewari, Union Minister for Culture, Smt Chandresh Kumari Katoach, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, R.P.N. Singh, Motilal Vora, Treasurer-AICC, Smt Ambika Soni, General Secretary-AICC, Incharge J&K and Dr Karan Singh, Former Sadar-e-Ryasat at the Union Capital and discussed various issues pertaining to people of Jammu region like problems of border people and demand of Duggar Channel. Former Minister Chark said, "The delegation took up issues related to border people keeping in view of frequent incidents of heavy shelling/firing from across the border and urged to immediately take Final decision for allotment of 5 Marlas plots at some safer places to the people living on the border as promised and proper arrangements for shifting the people be ensured." "Besides this, the delegation demanded compensation of the land falling between zero line & fencing, Special recruitment drive/package for the youth of the border area, issuance of ALC certificate and bringing them under the reserved category to border people and to resolve irrigation water problem at the tail end in border area, he added. He also said that demand with regard to starting of full-fledged "Duggar channel" from DDK Jammu was forcefully put-forth the concerned Union Ministers and it was demanded that a full-fledged "Kashir Channel" for telecasting the special programme to counter the false & vicious propaganda started by the Pakistan television was inaugurated on 15th August, 2000 but it could not serve the purpose much, because the Kashmiri language is understood & spoken by a a limited population on both sides of the border. He said majority of people speak and understand Dogri, Gojri, Pahari, Mirpuri & Punjabi etc so launching of full-fledged "Duggar Channel" for the same can only serve the real purpose if "Duggar Channel" is started for 24 hours like "Kashir Channel" from DDK Jammu. He also revealed that concerned union ministers and the officials of the ministries assured that the above mentioned important issues raised during the meetings at the union capital will certainly be favourably considered.
