| Health department lacks basic facilities in the state | | | ET Report Jammu, Jan 13: The Jammu and Kashmir government is simply putting curtains on the state of affairs in the health department where most of the districts hospital are is still without CT scan and MRI machines.Even in accident prone districts of Jammu region like Doda, Ramban, Kishtwar, Rajouri and Poonch, the health department hasn't installed any such machines where the diagnosis process could take pace and live of people could be saved. As the Jammu and Kashmir government completed its five years in the office, the health department never focused on improving the overall health scenario so that people could get some relief. Still people from these far off districts have to travel more than 200 kilometers to get a simple CT scan done. Even people from Marwah, Dachan and Warwan have to travel for three days to reach Jammu to get these tests done and diagnose what problem they are going through. Even the sonography equipment in these district hospitals are lying defunct as no specialised doctor has been put in place to make diagnosis. The health minister recently announced critical care ambulance service for every district but he has failed to address the issue that the basic need of hospitals in many district hospitals has not been addressed so far. The health minister could have done a lot as the union health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad is also from the state but both have failed to address the basic problems in the state, which could prove fatal for them only in next elections. |
