Jammu, Feb 4 : Seeking decisive mandate of the people to establish a new system of justice and equality in Jammu and Kashmir, former Deputy Chief Minister and senior leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Muzaffar Hussain Beigh today said that PDP wants to use democratic institutions as a mean to bring positive changes in the prevailing corrupt system. Addressing convention of the party card holders at Dogra Hall area in the heart of the Jammu city, Beigh said that political of PDP is not only to grab power but also to replace the present anarchists and corrupt dispensation with a new system of equality and justice where every individual will get equal opportunity of growth and economic emancipation. "PDP is seeking mandate to change destiny of the people of Jammu and Kashmir", he said and called upon the party workers to intensify the on-going campaign for change. "Coming Lok Sabha elections are an opportunity to channelize anger of the people against this government", he said and emphasised on inter-regional unity to solve all problems of the State. He emphasised on formulating policies which help in inclusive growth and emancipation of suppressed and neglected lot of the society. He argued that socio-economic growth of the Dalits, Other Backward Classes (OBCs), women, refugees and other weaker sections was must for the over-all development of the society. "Benefit of the developmental policies and other welfare schemes must be reached to neglected lot of the society", he said and added that democracy flourished in the country only due to the over-whelming participation these communities in the democratic process. He regretted, these marginalized sections of society were not getting real benefits of the schemes especially formulated for them. "Apart from formulating schemes for these sections, there should be a mechanism to ensure that benefit of such schemes must be reached to the deserving people", he said. "These is a need to formulate a comprehensive policy especially to target these sections for inclusive development in the society", he said and assured the gathering that PDP was committed for socio-economic growth of the neglected lot of the society. "Programmes and policies of PDP are formulated by incorporating wishes and aspirations of all sections of the society", he said and reminded that gathering that during PDP led regime various programmes were launched for the uplif- tment of weaker sections of society. Coming down heavily on ruling National Conference for its double speak, Beigh regretted that for the sake of power National Conference leadership usually speak different language at different occasions to befool the people. |
