| Rana wanted to join PDP in 2002-03: NC youth leader | | | Early Times Report
MENDHAR, Feb 4: After having levelled serious allegations against Early Times for having referred to his links with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Deputy Chairman of Legislative Council (LC) and NC leader Javed Rana has got a shocker.
District Youth president of National Conference (NC) for Mendhar Showkat Choudhary has said that the news item which appeared in Early Times is very much based on facts. He has alleged that Rana's elder brother Masud Choudhary, ex-DGP and ex-VC of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University has close links with PDP Patron Mufti Mohammed Sayeed.
"I am witness to Javed Rana's proximity with PDP during the year 2002-03 when the party came into power. He was all set to join PDP but some seniors in NC prevented him from joining PDP. It is known to all the leaders and you have not written something which is new or has no basis," said Showkat Choudhary while talking to Early Times from Mendhar. He added that if Rana wants to leave, he is more than welcome since people of Mendhar eagerly want change and that too at the earliest.
If not denied by NC, its District Youth president for Mendhar Showkat Choudhary referred to PDP holding huge public meetings in Kalaban village, which is home of NC MLC Javed Rana. "How is it possible that PDP has been holding meetings in the ancestral village of Javed Rana? Recently, a number of people joined PDP in Gali area of village Kalaban. He should explain the reason behind PDP making inroads in his constituency despite him being there," added Choudhary.
Stating that he is President of Sarpanch Association of Mendhar, Choudhary said "People want change and NC must deliver. If Rana Sahab want to join PDP, as was the case in 2002-03, he should do it as early as he can." Regarding Javed Rana recent status vis-à-vis joining PDP, Choudhary said "I cannot anything about the present time but it is a fact that he is doing very little to prevent PDP from cutting NC votes in Mendhar constituency."
