Jammu, Feb 4 : Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah today made it clear that the National Conference will never be a part of NDA. "As far as National Conference is concerned, it is not going to be a part of the NDA in future," Dr Abdullah told reporters on the sidelines of a function here this morning. Dr Abdullah, who is also the president of the ruling National Conference in the state of Jammu and Kashmir, said, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has also said on many occasions that the party will never become part of the NDA." "Finally, it is the people of India to decide whether they want a secular or communal India," said the Union Minister. In the backdrop of UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi's 'Zehar Ki Kheti,' remarks, Dr Abdullah refused to comment and said, "as far I am concerned, I would never want India to become 'communal' as India is a secular nation." He said "people of all the religions are living here and we must take India towards developed standards." On closure of Pathribal case, Dr Abdullah said that the Army has to re-look into the case as it is not yet final and justice will be done. On Third Front, the former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister said that it has been into the news but it will emerge only after the elections are over. "The decision on third front will be taken only after the polls are over and it depends on the kind of situation arises," said Dr Abdullah. Meanwhile, on revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from the state of Jammu and Kashmir, the National Conference president said, "we have asked that where there is no need, AFSPA can be lifted but on the border, where the problem still exists from our neighbour, there should no lowering of guards." "It is a matter of security of the country and the state as well. There are forces, who are trying to de-stabilise India, so in view of that, guards along the border should not be lowered," he said adding but where the situation is peaceful, AFSPA can be lifted from such places. Dr Abdullah also termed January 4 as a 'great day' in the Indian History as two personalities, scientist Prof Rao and cricketer Sachin Tendulkar were conferred with 'Bharat Ratna'. However, on his recent meeting with DMK leader M Karunanidhi, Dr Abdullah said, "it was not a political visit but Mr Karunanidhi is a great friend of my father and I went to enquire about his health." the rank of Head Constables.
