| Infrastructural upgradation in rural areas priority of Govt: Sham | | | Early Times Report
AKHNOOR, Feb 9 : Minister for PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control, Sham Lal Sharma has reiterated the commitment of Coalition Government to upgrade the existing infrastructure in all vital sectors to provide improved basic services to the people in rural and far-flung areas.
"There is a conception in the minds of rural people that their counterparts in urban areas enjoy better facilities and rural areas are ignored.
In order to remove this conception from the minds of rural folks, the Coalition Government with the active support of Central Government formulated a well-knit programme to improve the services, and during the past five years an unprecedented development has taken place in all vital sectors which has been well acknowledged by the people at the grass root level", said the Minister.
Addressing largely attended public meetings at village Bamaal and Kailewali, here today, the Minister said the creation of new administrative units and incorporation of 73rd amendment in the State Panchayati Raj Act are the decisions which speak themselves and are aimed at to bring administration closer to the rural population .
These decisions will not only fine tune the administration but bring complete transparency in the governance and strengthen the democratic system at the grass root level, said Sham.
The Minister asked the people to promote communal harmony, mutual brotherhood and peace for ensuring all round development. He also stressed the need for a close coordination between the administration and people for achieving the common goals of development.
He said benefits of all welfare schemes can be taken with the collective efforts, therefore, both, officers and people must maintain the close link to translate the targets to reality. He directed the officers to step up their field visits and monitor the on-going schemes to ensure their time bound completion.
At village Bamal, the Minister asked the locals to identify land for construction of Panchayat Ghar. To overcome the paucity of water, the Government has already undertaken a Water Supply Scheme at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.76 crore.
This will augment the present water scenario in the village, the Minister informed .He also assured to repair link roads and irrigational channels.
At village Kailewala, the Minister announced a deep drilling tube-well to meet the drinking water needs of the village.
He also assured to upgrade the Primary School upto Middle standard, and executing necessary repair of existing roads.
He said the village has been included in the Watershed Project, which envisages multiple developments with an involvement of Rs. 1.50 crore. Sarpanchs, Panchs, sectoral officers of various departments also accompanied the Minister. |
