| Khan still on run, Police collecting clues | | | Mustansir Srinagar, Feb 9: The special police team deputed to arrest the former Minister, Shabir Ahmad Khan wanted in sexual assault case had to spent the night on Srinagar-Jammu highway due to landslides and bad weather, however, the team reached Jammu early today. Sources told Early Times that the special team of J&K Police which left from Srinagar to Jammu Saturday afternoon had to spent night on Srinagar-Jammu highway due to bad weather. Sources said the police team reached Jammu early today but were busy in fulfilling formalities before starting a hunt for the accused former minister who is reportedly hiding in the outskirts of Jammu city in Sunjwan area. Sources said Shabir Khan was last sighted at Manjakote in Rajouri on February 7 (Friday) wherefrom his cavalcade was seen moving towards Jammu. They said Khan boarded a private car near Akhnoor while heading towards Jammu and the government vehicle allotted to him took a backward turn near Akhnoor. They added Khan spent last night at Sunjwan Jalalabad in house of his close relative, however, this could not be confirmed from the official sources. They said the police team deputed to arrest Khan started search late evening. They added that Khan, is certainly hiding in Bathindi-Sunjwan area in the Jammu city and his arrest is expected any time. Earlier, Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar issued arrest warrant against Khan on Saturday. Shabir Khan was booked for molesting a lady doctor in his office chamber in Srinagar after which he submitted his resignation. A case FIR no.9/2014 u/s 354 and 509 stands registered against him in Police station Shaheed Gunj, Srinagar. Police sources said that as soon as Khan is arrested he will be rushed to Srinagar for questioning because the case against him is registered there. |
