| 2 - day drug awareness program organized at Doda | | | Asif Iqbal Naik
Kishtwar, Feb 9 : In order to curb the drug menace in District Doda and other parts of the state, NGO Koshish and Chenab Welfare and Educational Trust (CWET) Doda organized a two days social awareness programme With support of 10 RR Doda and J & K Police.
The main purpose of organizing this type of programs was to aware the general public particularly youth of Doda District and its adjoining areas who are badly involved in drugs abuse, beside public at large has been made aware about the physical ,mental ,social and legal effect of drug abuse
On the first day of the two days program, an awareness rally in Doda city was organized and after that a seminar was also held in town hall Doda in which students from various colleges, schools and other academies took part in debate competition among them some prominent figures of Doda also enlightened the gathering through their views and ideas about drugs abuse
On the 2nd day of the program, public was made aware through a marathon "Run for life" which was flagged off by Deputy Commissioner Doda Mubarak Singh, SP Doda M S Chohuan and 2nd in command 10 RR Doda Major Kalash Jha at sport stadium Doda. Later on participants who stood 1st, 2nd and 3rd were awarded with the cash prizes, trophies and certificates.
Speaking on the occasion DC Doda congratulated the organizer for organizing this social awareness program and termed it as a Nobel cause.
He also said that drug menace should be eradicated completely from our society.
Speaking on the occasion SP Doda said that he has recently joined the post in Doda and from very first day when he came to know that drugs are being used and sold openly in Doda District, he immediately came into action and arrested numbers of persons and recovered lots of intoxicants from their possession. He also said that police will continue its search of all those persons who are involved in drugs abuse and assured the people that he will make all its efforts to make the society drugs free with the help of local people and also seeks organizers help.
Speaking on the occasion Chairman CWET Shahab Ul Haque stress on the need to wash this evil from the society.
Chairman of local NGO Koshish Irfan Attu in his address said that he hopes that this two days awareness program will make the public fully aware about the physical, mantle, legal and social harms of drugs abuse so that people especially youth of Doda Will come to know about the real harms of drugs abuse. He said that his organization will continue to organize this type of programs in future as well. |
