Early Times Report

Reasi, Feb 9: Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Chief Spokesperson Dr Jitendra Singh today questioned that what could be more ironic than the fact that while Salal Hydro-electric project caters to electricity needs of all the surrounding areas, Reasi itself continues to live perpetually with long regular power cuts. "This situation has arisen because the then Congress government had not insisted on due power share for Reasi while allowing the project to come up there and the subsequent National Conference (NC) led governments also remained indifferent to this anomaly", he alleged. Addressing a meeting of party workers, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the district of Reasi was established after a protracted struggle by the local people but even after being declared as a district, it does not enjoy the facilities compatible to district status. The posts of doctors in hospital and those of teachers in schools are lying vacant while the road widening work between Katra and Reasi is incomplete even after several years, he elaborated .Commending the role of local MLA, Baldev Raj Sharma, Dr. Jitendra Singh said, it is no small achievement that despite being an Opposition party legislator, Baldev Raj has got several works accomplished through his personal resources and Constituency Development Fund (CDF).Dr Jitendra Singh said, the BJP has decided to go to the people with Narendra Modi's slogan of "Vote for India" and reiterated the party's appeal for "Ek Note, Kamal Par Vote" in order to get rid of mis-governance, corruption and dynasty rule perpetuated by the Congress party.
The meeting was held as a part of BJP's election preparatory exercise to discuss the management of polling booths and composition of Booth committees. Among those present at the meeting were party Prabhari for district Reasi and state Vice President, Col (Retd) Uttam Singh, MLA Reasi Baldev Raj Sharma, State Secretary Kabla Singh,District President Ajay Nanda, Reasi Mandal President Chaman Bhagat, Subhash Vaid, Sheel Mangotra, Mahila Morcha District President Tripta Dubey, Katra Mandal President Ajay Baru,Arnas Mandal President Joginder Singh, Ramesh Sharma, Sat Pal and several others.
Baldev Raj, MLA, while welcoming Dr Jitendra Singh to Reasi, reiterated his commitment to BJP and to the people of Katra-Reasi. He would leave no stone unturned to serve the area, he said. People of Reasi are firmly behind BJP,he added.
Later, MLA Baldev Raj led a protest march through the Reasi town raising slogans against corruption and misdeeds of coalition ministers.
