| PYC holds victory rally over extension of 73rd amendment in J&K | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Feb 9: Activists of Pradesh Youth Congress (PYC) today celebrated decision of the State Cabinet to extend 73rd amendment of the Indian Constitution in J&K. As PYC had been fighting on roads for the last nearly one and half years to get this revolutionary amendment extended to the state of J&K, decision of the State Cabinet on accept this amendment was victory as well as big boost for the youth wing of Congress. The victory rally was held in front of the office of Pradesh Congress in which large number of Youth Congress activists participated. Youth Congress activists shouted slogans in favour of AICC vice president Rahul Gandhi for taking tough stand in favour of 73rd amendment Minister for Tourism Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Minister of State for Power Vikar Rasool in the Council of Minister and Lok Sabha member from Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat Madan Lal Sharma were prominent among those who participated in the celebrations of Youth Congress. The celebration rally was led by president PYC Shahnawaz Choudhary and accompanied by Vice President Pranav Shagotra, State General Secy Manjeet Singh Jatt, Abid Kashmiri, Rashid Choudhary, state sec Rajveer Manhas, Lok Sabha presidents Naseer Mir and Satish Sharma.Speaking on the occasion, Shahnawaz Choudhary said that this was the victory of the Youth Congress and the people of the state. He thanked all the youth congress workers across the state for fighting the battle. PYC vice president Pranav Shagotra said that 73rd amendment was brain-child of former Prime Minister late Rajiv Gandhi, who was committed to strengthen grass root level democracy. He said that it was all due to the moral support of Rahul Gandhi that Youth Congress has convinced the state government to incorporate 73rd amendment in the J&K Panchayati Raj Act. |
